Trent Glass took part in the conversion of a worn second-hand container into a site office, supplying vacuum glass for the full-height windows. The glazing helped improve warmth and comfort as part of the wider refurbishment, while bringing daylight into the new workspace.
A new use for a second-hand container
The project began with an older container that needed refurbishment. Rather than replacing the entire structure, the conversion gave it a new purpose as a site office. The photographs below show its arrival and condition before the work.
Opening up the workspace
The conversion introduced a large glazed opening into the container. Full-height glazing connects the interior with the surroundings and makes daylight a central feature of the refurbished office.
Vacuum glass for improved thermal comfort
Trent Glass supplied vacuum glazing for the floor-to-ceiling windows. This was an important part of improving the thermal performance of the refurbished space, helping to limit heat loss through the glazed areas while retaining the open view.
The glazing worked alongside the other refurbishment measures to create a more comfortable site office. The project shows how vacuum glass can be used in the reuse of an existing structure as well as in conventional buildings.
